Happy Cinco de Mayo

Even though I don’t live in America (I’d love too), I manage to celebrate most of the American holidays. May 5th is Cinco de Mayo & I had a massive urge to eat some Mexican food.
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “fifth of May”) is a holiday held on May 5 that commemorates the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.

Rewind to this morning …

“Can I take your picture for my blog?”
The range hood man came over this morning to install the sucker for over the cooktop hobs. We were delighted at the thought of our food smells no longer wafting through the kitchen/dining/living room (even though the smells are delightful.) He literally was a man with no upper body while fitting it. Sadly we aren’t able to use it yet because of a mix up regarding the cabinetry. Again we are waiting, waiting for that to be resolved.

Eats
Breakfast was sans milk this morning because we only have soy milk in the fridge & I flat out refuse to drink soy milk. I devoured Heinz Baked Beans on two slices of Lawson’s Settlers Grain Bread. The small piece was covered in Vegemite

The hunger monster was fulflled by an end of “The Chefette’s” lunch. It was a rice paper roll packed with salad, prawn & sweet chili sauce.

Dinner was an experiment in our kitchen. I tweeted this mid afternoonHowever when dinner time came around I’d convinced myself of something completely different.I put together a bowl of Mahatma Brown rice, Spicy Bean Salsa, Coles Kidney Beans with pumpkin, carrot, zucchini & capsicum. Then got out my toaster to cook the wrap & my concoctionThen disaster struck …It was quite nice without the wrap, it was mushy heaven. It looks & sounds disgusting but trust me this was a beauty.

Dessert was … FRUIT & Fat Free Jalna Yogurt again. (Total Fat – 0.2 grams. Total Carbs – 14.8 grams. All per 100 gram serve)

I’m putting a call out to any Australian companies in Sydney that want to send me some no fat or low fat milk to try. I’m having issues find a good no fat or low fat milk that tastes like real milk. I’m trying to find a milk that has a milk flavor, thickness & can be drunk on it’s own.
